If you’ve recently had mold remediation in your Northern Virginia home or business, you may wonder what the post-remediation process looks like. First, it’s important to understand that a post-remediation mold inspection is a critical step in the mold remediation process to ensure that the mold has been successfully removed and that no residual mold remains. In this blog post, we’ll discuss what to expect from a post-remediation mold inspection and the steps involved in the process.
Post-Remediation Verification (PRV) Assessment
A Post Remediation Verification (PRV) Assessment is an inspection and testing of a building to determine if a mold remediation project has been successful. This is done to ensure that the area has been properly cleaned, repaired, and decontaminated so that the risk of health problems associated with mold has been eliminated.
The assessment typically consists of two parts; the visual inspection and mold clearance testing. The visual inspection involves looking for any visible signs of mold or evidence that the remediation was successful, such as the proper installation of new materials or improved airflow.
The second part is the mold clearance testing, which involves collecting air and surface samples from the affected area to measure the levels of mold spores before and after the remediation process.
The results of this testing will show whether the remediation process effectively eliminates mold and brings the environment back to acceptable levels.
Our Post-Remediation Verification includes the following:
- Visual inspection to verify that no visible mold, dust, or debris is present.
- Moisture testing to verify that all materials have been adequately dried to inhibit mold re-growth.
- Environmental sampling and analysis to verify the structure, system, and/or contents have been returned to “normal fungal ecology.”
Suppose the PRV assessment reveals that the remediation was successful. In that case, our report would certify that the remediation has met Condition 1 (normal fungal ecology). However, further remediation may be necessary if the assessment reveals that the remediation was unsuccessful.
Overall, a Post Remediation Verification (PRV) Assessment is essential in ensuring a remediation project has been completed successfully, thus reducing the risk of health hazards associated with mold.
